ADAPT meets Silver Economy

IRSEEM, ESIGELEC’s research institute, has begun the process of registering for the new European programme, INTERREG V. Since the end of projects financed in the previous phase, research teams have continued their work on COALAS through ADAPT, whose first phase has been approved. Submission of the second phase is under way and will begin sometime in May 2016.

ADAPT, Assistive Devices for empowering disAbled People through robotic Technologies, aims, by way of robotic innovations, to improve the quality of life of people suffering from a loss of autonomy.

The project brings together 16 partners with a total budget of 8 million Euros. IRSEEM is the project leader and will, in this capacity, have at its disposal, 10% of the total amount. The project will last for 4 years and is completely financed by Europe, under the aegis of the INTERREG V A programme.

The project will comprise four parts :
  • Designing an intelligent chair, as a follow-up to COALAS project
  • Designing a chair simulator in virtual reality
  • Training of healthcare professions and family members supporting the individual
  • Economic development of project results
COALAS has initiated various engineering projects, one of which is likely to lead to the creation of a start-up. ADAPT will follow the same process and include a teaching component for technology development.
