New major for the Automobile and Aeronautics programme

The ESAA (Electronic Systems for Automobiles and Aeronautics) major was set up at the beginning of February 2015 after being presented to 2nd year students in November 2014.

This major replaces the ISET (Telecommunications Systems Engineering) major in the Electronics & Telecommunications department. This new major offers wider professional prospects than Telecommunications and Radiofrequencies, while remaining in the Electronics field and maintaining the essential aspects of knowledge and skills of the Radiofrequencies students, which have made up, for a number of the school’s industrial partners, an ESIGELEC trademark over the past 30 years.

The instructional design and technology of this new major was based on the following ideas :

  • Broader activity sectors : Automobiles, Aeronautics and Telecommunications. The choice of the first two activity sectors takes into account the place of Upper Normandy in these sectors (3rd on a national level), the presence of the NAE (Normandy AéroEspace) network and of the Mov'eo cluster, as well as the activities of IRSEEM.

  • Durable scientific themes : Electronics, Radiofrequencies, Instrumentation. These themes are scientific fields where the activities of ESIGELEC and IRSEEM are recognised by industry and academics.
The central aim of the ESAA major is to train engineers who can join teams that are working on electronic systems development in the Automobile, Aeronautics and Telecommunications fields, while taking into account all the dimensions of these projects.

This major is a preparation for the following professions :

  • Electronics Systems Engineer,
  • Electronic Systems Integration Engineer,
  • Electronic Test Automation Engineer,
  • IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation, Qualification) Engineer.
