Elles bougent pour l’Energie en Normandie forum

On Thursday 24 March, at the initiative of the Elles bougent organisation and in partnership with Energie Normandie, ESIGELEC played host to female secondary school students for an afternoon of discussions and presentations.

The event, which was held simultaneously in 10 cities and towns (*), was designed to make girls more aware of careers in the Energy sector and to encourage them to follow these courses of study.

The event began with a welcome speech by Fabienne Corruble, the President of Energie Normandie which represents more than 590 industrial sites, and Christophe Martin, Elle Bougent’s regional officer in Normandy. This was followed by a series of panel discussions.

A large number of activities and surprises were in store to enable participants to learn about these professions of the future: panel discussions, personal presentations, a fab lab in the form of an exhibition of real engineering projects, display stands representing various companies...

Female engineers and technicians from companies such as EDF, ENGIE, ERDF, Rouen City Council, LHOTELLIER-IKOS / CAPIK and TOTAL, along with current ESIGELEC students, were on hand to talk to the girls about their study routes and their professional experiences to help them choose their career options.

The companies would like to see more women choosing to work in their areas and the number of girls entering engineering schools and embarking on science courses is still too low.

The Elles Bougent pour l’Energie en Normandie forum provided an opportunity to learn about the professions of the future and the successful careers which large numbers of women have forged for themselves. The event was held in ESIGELEC’s CISE building, between 1.30 pm and 4.45 pm on 24 March.
