With a network of 7,700 practising engineers, the Société des Ingénieurs en Génie ELECtrique (the ESIGELEC and ISA-IGELEC alumni association) has decided, in collaboration with the school, to increase its effectiveness by establishing ‘tribes’ of graduates in the companies in which it is well represented.
These tribes are led by ‘tribal chiefs’ who have a three-fold role :
- To identify ESIGELEC graduates in their company and organise events to bring the community together,
- To pass on recruitment opportunities to the school and to SIGELEC by acting as a conduit for internship, apprenticeship and employment offers and information from students and young graduates on the jobs on offer,
- To help to develop the partnership between their company and ESIGELEC.
The scheme currently has ‘tribal chiefs’ in eleven companies: EDF, Schneider Electric, THALES, SNCF, RENAULT, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Société Générale, BNP Paribas, Orange, SFR Business, BOUYGUES. An initial meeting of these ‘tribal chiefs’ was organised at ESIGELEC on 26 January. This provided an opportunity to discuss the issues raised by the project and for the network of ESIGELEC graduates and the School/Business Relations team to share good practice and ideas for activities.
The project is now being rolled out further with the appointment of ‘tribal chiefs’ in other companies such as ERDF, RTE, ENGIE, VINCI, ALTRAN, SOPRA-STERIA, ATOS, CAP-GEMINI, etc,...
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 8 June, alongside the SIGELEC general meeting.
