The Carnot Energy and Propulsion Systems (ESP) Institute has recently earned another Carnot 3 label after the call for projects launched by the government in November 2015
This Carnot Institute benefits from an intertwined network of 7 search and R&D laboratories: CRISMAT, CORIA, LCS, GPM, IRSEEM (research laboratory at ESIGELEC), CERTAM and CEVAA. They are located in 2 sites in Normandy, the Madrillet Technology Park and the Caen Nord Campus.

The Carnot Institutes aim to develop partnerships between research facilities and companies. The Carnot ESP Institute earned the label at its creation in 2006, then in 2010, and again in 2016 because it responds to the following demands: a well-defined and identifiable scope for companies, a major commitment to contractual research (with nearly 6.5 million euros in direct contracts in 2015, standing for 15% of its consolidated budget), and assertive governance.
This labels is an acknowledgement of its technological means and expertise in the sector of energy and on-land, aeronautic, and space propulsion systems, bringing together innovative decontamination systems, environmental and health impacts, materials for energy, as well as embedded electronics.

The Carnot ESP Institute has reinforced its position in the realm of both fundamental and technological research at the highest international standards.
