Contractual research: the stakes for IRSEEM

The work of the IRSEEM research laboratory at ESIGELEC is developing rapidly in all 3 of its domains, "Automatic Control & Systems", "Electronics & Systems" and "Instrumentation, Information Technology & Systems", which have been conducting joint research, with an applied aim linked to the automobile, aeronautics, energy and telecommunications fields. This special relationship with companies finds concrete form through a growing number of theses that are part of the CIFRE programme. This autumn, there are 5 CIFRE conventions, 2 regional programmes (one of which is co-financed) and 2 VEDECOM doctoral candidates.

The IRSEEM research theme focused on "Cyber-physical systems in harsh environments" can be seen in particular through ongoing research contracts, and 5 new projects beginning this term (see boxed text).

The IRSEEM laboratory is also launching a project as part of the Interreg VA, which is currently under deliberation, and which it will coordinate with a consortium of  18 Franco-British partners. This project will also include a focus on the Individual Autonomy and Health programme (an issue in the silver economy).

Close collaboration is also continuing as part of the ITE VEDECOM, the FAURECIA-CENTRALESUPELEC – ESIGELEC Research Chair and the framework agreement with SAFRAN Nacelles, and soon with the BOUYGUES ES framework agreement.

Lastly, the Argos International Robotics Challenge, where IRSEEM, in association with the small business SOMINEX, won the first two rounds, is mobilising the "Vikings" team to ensure a final victory in March 2017, up against competitors from Switzerland, Japan, Austria and Spain.

5 collaborative research projects are beginning in the last quarter of 2016
